Question by lovepeacefashionxo: Drugstore Makeup or Bare Minerals?
So, for all those ladies out there who have some personal experience in makeup, I am contemplating what makeup/foundation I should buy for my face. I have been wanting to buy a foundation and powder that not only provides good coverage, but is also fairly good for my skin. I know that wearing no makeup at all is better for the skin than wearing something, but I have mild acne with some blemishes (sometimes it tends to get a little bit oily around the T-zone, but it’s not too bad) and am looking for something that will cover that and provide an even tone, but at the same time, not encourage my acne from occurring even more. What I am trying to avoid is using something that will in the long run ruin my skin.
I have recently purchased Neutrogena’s SkinClearing Oil-Free Liquid foundation, Maybelline Dream Matte, and Maybelline’s Mineral Power Finishing Veil Powder. It does provide a somewhat nice coverage, but since it’s not fully non-comedogenic, I don’t know if it’s actually okay for my skin. I have been thinking about purchasing Bare Minerals Starter Kit for a while now, but many people have different opinions on that. From your experience, do you think I should stick to my drugstore brands or would it be better for my skin if I buy Bare Minerals instead?
Thanks in advance to those who reply.

I only know 1 person that doesn’t wear minerals my mom. & she is old school that’s why.
omg bare minerals is like a god send
it makes my skin soo soft and it never looks cakey and the coverage is amazing i love the little concealer brush
covers up everything
oh and you should also get the bare minerals primer
it helps tonnns!
minerals are minerals, regardless of brand.
however, l’oreals mineral line sucks, they must add like parabens or something.
I have exactly the same problem as you, but have recently started using Bare Minerals, which so far has been awesome, feels light on your skin, and hasn’t agitated my skin further, because it doesn’t clog your pores. I also recommend Bare Escentuals lipstick, they have lots of great shades and it isn’t drying.
to be honest, a lot of cosmetic company’s use minerals in there products such as merle norman or cover girl or max factor. its a matter of your skin. is it oily, dry, or semi-dry. and the color if your a warm, olive or cool. you really have to try out the make up, which is why i love going to cosmetic stores such as mac, sephora, etc.
don’t be tempted because its the name, you should look into products, because of all the different seasons your face changes, for example; i use merle norman during summer. cover girl during winter, and max factor for fall and merle again for spring.
i suggest u to avoid foundations because these r oily and sometimes leave patches on skin u should use pan cakes which r water based because ur skin is oily water based makeup will stay longer and don’t leave patches u can use branded company like krylon or melin which r best for u
its very good i used it for 3 years and it worked so well with my skin.
it doesn’t feel like your wearing pounds, its very smooth, feathery, and YES it covers well.
but i stopped using it when i found a foundation much cheaper and it works the exact same..its called Bare Naturale by. L’oreal Paris.
its a powder foundation that’s has SPF 19 in it and its the same thing as Bare Minerals but only $ 14 . and i just buy the mineral veil from Bare Minerals and its all the same.
thats only if you are looking for mayber a less expensive version of it.
